Directions for use
Begin by selecting the appropriate size of the excavator based on the tooth surface and the extent of the decay.
Clean and sterilize the instrument using standard sterilization procedures.
Prepare the patient for the procedure and administer local anesthesia if needed.
Use the spoon-shaped end of the excavator to remove decayed tissue from the tooth surface. This end can also be used to remove debris and shape the tooth structure.
Use the pointed end of the excavator to remove small areas of decay and explore the tooth surface for any remaining decay.
Periodically rinse the tooth and the excavator with water to remove debris and maintain visibility.
